Soundbites is a daily supplement with vitamins and nutrients that support your inner ear's natural defenses. It contains the patented ACEMg formula developed through 36 years of auditory neuroscience research at the University of Michigan. The formula is designed to help protect and maintain healthy hearing by reducing oxidative stress in the cochlea.
Soundbites differs from consumer vitamin supplements in a couple of important ways. First, the Soundbites you purchase from us are identical to the product that was originally developed and registered as a clinical medicine in grant-supported clinical trials. Second, Soundbites softgel capsules comply with the strict standards of pharmaceutical manufacture, a higher standard not required for consumer vitamins. Bioavailability of the active ingredients, and stability of the product through the expiration date are certified by analysis and guaranteed. Third, Soundbites is the only scientifically validated, patented micronutrient formula demonstrated to deliver the exact micronutrients inner ear nerve cells need to relieve the oxidative stress that damages hearing and causes hearing loss.
Soundbites does not regenerate hearing cells — hearing cells in humans do not regenerate. However, Soundbites can improve hearing sensitivity, which is perceived as better hearing. Our clinical data shows that some users experience measurable improvements. We recommend tracking your progress with Soundware to see how Soundbites works for you.
Most people notice changes within 3-6 months of daily use. The supplement starts working within 30 minutes for acute protection, but measurable improvement in hearing sensitivity takes time with consistent daily use.
In our real-world evidence study of 190 people, 75.3% maintained or improved their hearing over 6 months. The 2005 preclinical study demonstrated a 75% reduction in noise-induced hearing loss in animal models. The scientists at the U.S. Patent Office reviewed the data and granted our recent patent for enhancing auditory sensitivity.
Usage & Dosage
Take Soundbites any time of the day that works for you. We suggest taking Soundbites daily as part of your regular healthcare routine, much like brushing your teeth helps protect against cavities. If you choose to take Soundbites infrequently, we suggest taking it before you are exposed to loud noise in environments such as entertainment venues, live sports venues, during airline travel, or when working with power tools or sporting equipment. If you forget to take Soundbites in advance of exposure to intense sound or noise, take Soundbites as soon as possible after exposure, and continue for at least three days to help your hearing cells recover.
Two capsules daily for ages 18 or older. Take whenever convenient. One capsule daily for ages 9-17. Children younger than nine years require a lower dose--keep out of their reach. Smokers should consult a physician before taking antioxidant supplements.
Yes. For exceptionally loud exposures, you can take a double dose (4 softgels) 30-60 minutes before exposure. Peak plasma concentration occurs approximately 30-60 minutes post-ingestion, making pre-exposure dosing optimal for acute protection.
Safety & Ingredients
Yes. The ingredients in Soundbites are classified by the FDA as Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS). The safety of micronutrient supplements--vitamins and minerals--has been researched since the first vitamins were discovered about 100 years ago. The ingredients in Soundbites softgel capsules are safe at any age. No significant side effects have been reported. As always, check with your doctor if you have concerns.
Yes. Young children need a lower dose. A low-dose form of Soundbites has been developed for doctors treating children with clinical indications of free radical-induced hearing impairment including GJB2/connexin 26 genetic mutation; aminoglycoside ototoxicity; and congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV). Heavy smokers should consult their doctor before taking antioxidants.
Active ingredients: Vitamin A (in the form of beta-carotene, provitamin A); Vitamin C (as calcium ascorbate); Vitamin E (in the form of dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate); Magnesium (in the form of magnesium oxide).
Other ingredients: Refined soybean oil (carrier), soy lecithin (emulsifier), glycerol, mono- and di-glycerides (stabilizers).
Soundbites softgel capsules are produced in an FDA-certified pharmaceutical facility using RP Scherer softgel technology to enhance bioavailability. Manufacturing processes strictly comply with current FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Capsules are packaged and shipped under climate control and stored in our climate-controlled warehouse.
No. Refrigeration is not necessary. When stored at room temperature, stability tests guarantee that the statement of active ingredients is accurate until the expiration date imprinted on the bottle label.
Tinnitus
Noise exposure is the most common cause of tinnitus. Tinnitus often starts with exposure to high intensity noise. Common examples are loud music for a few hours at a live concert, or in your earbuds all day.
Hearing loss from any cause is highly connected to tinnitus. Tinnitus is brain noise. The root cause is biologic injury or death of inner ear hearing nerve cells resulting in cognitive dysfunction within the brain's auditory cortex.
Anyone can get tinnitus at any age.
You're hardly alone if you have tinnitus. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that about a third of the US population, or about 105 million people, suffer from tinnitus.
The CDC also estimates that 70% and 85% of people with hearing loss have tinnitus. Hearing loss often increases with age, so does the prevalence of tinnitus.
The scientific evidence clearly indicates that the best way to reduce the risk of tinnitus is to prevent the hearing loss that often causes it. So although our roots are in biomedical research, which typically focuses on developing drugs for disease treatment, our focus is preventive care.
Soundbites is specifically designed to preserve hearing by preventing inner ear injury, especially from noise. Soundbites works by blocking the biochemical triggers that damage inner ear nerves and initiate tinnitus. We know of no other safe product of medical research designed to do what Soundbites does.
There is no cure and no prescription pharmaceuticals for treating tinnitus, so tinnitus therapies are focused on managing symptoms. Doctors prescribe anti-anxiety drugs, antidepressants or steroids to help cope with the psychological impacts.
Soundbites was developed to preserve hearing, not to treat tinnitus. However, because hearing loss is related to tinnitus, preserving hearing also helps avoid temporary tinnitus and relieve tinnitus symptoms.
Hearing Loss & Protection
It's difficult to know if your use of earbuds or headphones is damaging your hearing. Consumer tech for sound level monitoring is just starting to appear on phones, which helps if you happen to be using earbuds or headphones calibrated with a phone. Otherwise, it's virtually impossible to know if the combination of listening time and volume are within safe limits.
Consider using Soundbites if you're concerned about avoiding potential hearing injury from any personal listening devices used for long periods or at loud volumes, including earbuds, headphones, or even hearing aids. But please think of Soundbites as preventive care insurance, and not as a free pass to take risks by turning up the volume.
Yes. Soundbites helps maintain the normal auditory function of hearing cells, regardless of how sound gets to your inner ear, regardless of the level of your hearing loss. Independent clinical evidence indicates that Soundbites can improve hearing sensitivity within three months of daily use. If you rely on hearing aids, the amplification level of your hearing aids may seem to increase, which indicates improvement in hearing sensitivity.
Yes. Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) and noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) are the two most common types of sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). Noise is such a dominant form of SNHL that we just call it hearing loss.
The root cause of NIHL and ARHL is oxidative stress and restricted inner ear blood flow caused by excess inner ear free radicals. Hearing cells tend to produce additional free radicals as they age, more so when they are damaged, and noise is the dominant source of that damage.
